Intellect commits to Africa’s digital finance infrastructure

JOHANNESBURG – GLOBAL enterprise-grade financial technology firm, Intellect Design Arena, believes an award bestowed on it at the recent Africa Fintech Forum reinforces its pivotal role in the modernisation of Africa’s financial infrastructure.

It also emphasises the company’s alignment with South Africa’s vision for innovation and growth, especially in leveraging technology for banking transformation, officials said.

Intellect has received the Best Banking Technology Vendor of the Year 2026 at the sixth edition of the forum, held in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

The award celebrates Intellect’s eMACH.ai, said to be the world’s largest open finance platform, which is described as accelerating digital transformation by providing application programming interfaces (APIs), events and microservices to help financial institutions modernise swiftly.

The platform, according to Intellect, empowers banks to break free from monolithic legacy systems and move towards a flexible, composable future, offering real-time financial services that are smarter and more adaptable.

“This recognition at the Africa Fintech Forum underscores our dedication to the African market and our mission to empower banks with the technology needed for the next era of finance,” Eshmael Mpabanga, Intellect Senior Vice President and Regional Head for Southern Africa, said.

He explained that by leveraging eMACH.ai, the company’s partners could move beyond the limitations of legacy monolithic systems to a flexible, composable future that delivered real value to their customers.
